The shade of burgundy leather used for the interior was inspired by the uniforms worn by Coco and the other orphans at the convent orphanage where she was raised.

The unique part of Chanel Flap bags is under the top flap, there is a zipper compartment. Coco used this as her secret spot to stash her infamous love letters.
