The term melee is used to describe smaller brilliant-cut diamonds as well as all small diamonds that are used in embellishing mountings for larger gems. 850 means “850 fine” (if gold), or 85% silver. It could mean gold content of a bit over 20K, but that doesn't seem logical that someone would alloy gold to 20.4

Points for purchase / assessment
This time I managed to bought one 850 Grade earing that have a few melee diamond attached on it. Actually, for diamond items, we only accept minimum 0.2ct with certificate. Your earing is an old ring so no more certificate for these melee diamond. But no worries! Because we still can bought it and quote you the price for the material.
