How to care your gold, AEON AU2 Setiawangsa.

So, for this lovely weekend we are going to share with you how to care your gold jewelry. Left to its own devices, gold jewelry won’t tarnish or corrode. However, with regular wear, your gold jewelry will eventually accumulate a film of soap, body oils and even grease. Taking proper care of your fine gold jewelry, which includes periodic cleanings, will ensure that it continues to be a point of pride throughout your lifetime.

Basically there is two method which is general care and periodic cleaning. We will share both method 🙂

Method 1: Basic Care

1. Remove your gold jewelry before taking shower / bath or cleaning
2. Handle your gold jewelry carefully, as delicate pieces and gem settings can also easily bend out of shape.
3. Buff your gold jewelry with a soft chamois cloth if it seems to be losing its luster.

Exposing your jewelry to the soap and chemicals can make your gold looks dull and needs frequent cleaning. Especially when using the abrasive cleaner, gold will easily scratch as it is a soft metal. Chlorine can also permanently discolor gold, so take your jewelry off before going into a hot tub or swimming pool.

Method 2: Periodic Cleanings

1. Mix a few drops of mild dish washing detergent and warm water in a small bowl.
2. Dip each piece of gold in the mixture, 1 at a time.
3. Wipe the gold gently with a very soft cloth.
4. Rinse the gold gently in warm water until all traces of the suds are gone and the water runs clear.
5. Buff and polish the gold gently with chamois or another soft cloth before you put the jewelry away.

You can use few drops of ammonia into water, but still it’s not recommended. Mild dish detergent still can be accepted to clean your gold. Please don’t put all of your gold in a bowl at once, it might get scratched. Use soft cloth as using the toothbrush also could scratch your gold. Yet, if still needed you can use a soft-bristled child’s toothbrush.
