1. The first thing to look of course the overall quality of the watch. The details on the dial for quality and alignment should be checked. It should not have any glue or dust visible on the the dial . It might be fake if there is some issues.
2. Check spelling on the watch. Should pay attention on the “Cartier” name. Usually fakes will omit the first “r” in Cartier.
3. “Cartier” name should be on the dial and also on the back case.
4. Look at the crown of the watch. If there is a gemstone, the gemstone should be set into the crown and not glued on it.
5. Check the luminosity of the watch. Most of Cartier watch will use a substance called LumiNova (provide glow on the dial & hands; read time in darkness). Fake Cartier will have poor luminosity.
6. Logo on the case back should be engraved so every letter can be identified clearly. Usually the fake one, letters barely seen.
7. Check water surface tension on the crystal. A smeared film of water will almost always pull together on crystals made from sapphire because the surface is smooth.
8. If the Cartier watch has the date display, it should be exactly in the horizontal center.
