Chuk Kam is a very old Chinese term for “pure gold”, it is the Cantonese pronunciation of 足金. Chuk (足) can be loosely translated as “adequate” and Kam is 金, gold. In the old days, it means over 99% pure. The purifying technology in China in the old days could only produce gold which is >99% pure. I just bought a Chuk Kam Gold Bracelet from a new customer. This customer brought over an old gold that she inherited from her great great grandmother. She tells us a story how her great great grandmother survives during war and how they protect the gold from the colonizer. It was an inspired story. As for now she said all her daughter and grandchildren didn’t like the design of the bracelet and the bracelet also very heavy for youngster to wear nowadays. That’s why she decides to bring to our store and sell it.
