HOW SOFT IS PURE GOLD?

24 karat(K24) or 999.9 gold is the purest form of gold. Chemical formula is Au. In its purest form, it is a bright, slightly reddish yellow, dense, soft, malleable and ductile metal. Pure gold is so soft that it can be molded with the hands.  An ounce of gold can be beaten into a sheet covering 100 square feet. While an ounce of gold can be drawn into a wire 60 miles long.

HOW TO IDENTIFY PURE GOLD?

Basically we have 4 steps on how to identify pure gold. Firstly we can see the hallmark at the gold. Secondly we can check with magnet whether it stick or not. If it doesn’t stick to the magnet we can check with hydrometer machine. Hydrometer machine is to check the purity of the gold. If the purest gold which is 24 carat gold, it should come out 24 at the machine. Then, lastly we can test with nitric acid test. When we scratch 24 carat gold in the stone and put a drop of nitric acid on it, the color of the pure gold will remain and not disappear.
