\u201cFor some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. <\/em><\/p>

It is called the TUDOR <\/strong>watch company.\u201d <\/em><\/p>– H. Wilsdorf<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It Wasn’t Hans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 1926, the house of \u201cVeuve de Philippe H\u00fcther\u201d, a watch dealer, registered the trademark \u201cThe Tudor\u201d for Hans Wilsdorf (also the founder of Rolex). He had only acquired the exclusive usage rights\u00a0to Tudor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rolex’s Little Sister<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Tudor is the sister brand of Rolex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hans Wilsdorf’s aim of the Tudor brand was to offer more affordable watches whilst preserving the Rolex reputation for quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And selling them in the market at a relatively economical price, attracting the majority of watch lovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Specializing in the production of luxury watches of similar quality to Rolex but at a lower price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early Tudor watches had the Rolex crown logo, shared Rolex parts, and even used Rolex movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On some Tudor pieces from this time, the name Rolex can also be found on it. The reason for this is that Rolex has already established itself quite well on the market, and therefore, Tudor could leverage the Rolex name to gain trust and leverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the later Tudor watches no longer have the crown logo, and switched to the movement produced by ETA under the Swiss Swatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2015, started to use the self-produced Tudor movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Rose of Tudor Dynasty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 1936 the brand was fully transferred from the house of \u201cVeuve de Philippe H\u00fcther\u201d to Hans Wilsdorf. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This had resulted in the design of the rose of the TUDOR dynasty. Inscribed within a shield, this logo symbolized the invincible union of strength \u2013 the watch\u2019s robustness \u2013 with grace \u2013 the beauty of its lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1946, Wilsdorf established \u201dMontres Tudor S.A. Company\u201d. He wanted to expand the brand and start to establish it so that it could stand on its own legs without leaning on Rolex. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ladies Included<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Ever since the beginning, the company specialized in models for both men and women.\u00a0So it came to no surprise that the Clair de Rose collection for women became one of  the best selling models for ladies when they released in 2011. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, Tudor watches have become more and more individual, so the number of Tudor fans has gradually increased. Bold yet graceful designs, and affordable prices, Tudor certainly does not live in the shadow of ‘her big sister’ anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
